How Kindness and Hard Work Can Take You a Long Way
By Chloey
Who is your role model? Why?
My role models are my parents. Both my mom and dad give out so much love to everyone around them, and always make sure to help others whenever they can! I’ve witnessed and learned what hard work looks like from them, and have been able to apply their work ethic in my life as well, which has helped me grow as an individual. My parents are always trying to make people smile and feel loved with their kindness, caring hearts, and, of course, my dad’s silly jokes! I’ve seen how impactful a kind heart is from them, and I try to show the same to others.
What are you most proud of in your life?
I am most proud of my work ethic and my heart! I’ve learned to always try my best in everything that I am involved in, whether it be school, extracurriculars, or even relationships with others. I have also always tried to lend a helping hand whenever possible, to better the lives of others!
What are you passionate about?
I am most passionate about making a positive difference in people’s lives. I am a Communication Sciences and Disorders major, and one of the main reasons I decided to go into this field is due how much you can change someone’s life. I aspire to become a Speech Pathologist who helps others believe in themselves, helps them acknowledge their greatness and capabilities, and helps them overcome their challenges one step at a time!
What makes you feel confident?
I feel confident when I look back on how far I’ve come in life, and recognize how much I’ve accomplished! Sometimes life throws challenges your way, but realizing that you are capable of overcoming them and believing that you can truly make a difference. I feel confident when I recognize my self-worth and remind myself: “You got this!”
What is your favorite inspirational quote?
My favorite inspirational quote is “Be the reason someone smiles today”! Ever since I heard this quote a few years ago, I have tried to stick by it. By spreading kindness and positivity to others, we help others feel loved and, in turn, help make the world a better place!
What advice would you give to your younger self?
I would tell my younger self not to worry about the future so much. I always get too caught up in looking ahead, trying to figure out and plan what comes next and what the future might hold. However, when you do that, you might miss the amazing things that are happening right in front of you! I’ve learned that I need to focus on being and living in the moment. I would tell my younger self that everything will work out, so don’t get too caught up in looking ahead. Instead, ground yourself where you are, and live and learn from there. Soak up all the love, joy, laughter, and happiness that comes from each moment of this beautiful life because when you do, you learn to appreciate it that much more.
