Knowing Your Worth

By Elisa

Who is your role model? Why?

My role model is Michelle Obama because she is empowering, intelligent, driven, funny and powerful. She uses her platform in a positive way, showing girls they can accomplish anything they set their mind to if they know their worth. I find her dedication to girls’ education most inspiring.

What are you most proud of in your life?

I am proud of my accomplishments in school and work. I got to where I am today through hard work and dedication. At work, I try to be someone people can depend on for help. In school, I strive for good grades, especially as a college student. Tuition is extremely expensive and it’s a privilege to be here - I don’t want my hard work (or dollars!) to go to waste.

What are you passionate about?

I want everyone to have equal access to healthcare, including vaccines, contraceptives and quality health education. I’m passionate about equal opportunities for female-identifying individuals in all aspects of life. I want to see a world full of empowered people who know their worth, potential and importance… People who are not afraid to be who they are.

What makes you feel confident?

I feel confident when I make a positive impact on someone’s day. I feel confident when I learn about a new topic, as I’m able to spread knowledge and stay informed. I feel confident when I try to be the best that I can be - and if sometimes I fall short, it’s okay to get back up and try again tomorrow.

What is your favorite inspirational quote?

A woman who knows what she brings to the table is not afraid to eat alone.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Be patient with yourself. You’re doing the best you can! You’re not meant to have everything figured out right away, or even so young. Always stay true to yourself and know your worth. Be kind to everyone and always strive to be the best version of yourself!
