Mindfulness. Our Superpower.

By Gabrielle

The mind is a garden. Your thoughts are seeds. You can grow flowers, or you can grow weeds.

I AM EMPOWERED & POISED BECAUSE I TELL MYSELF EVERY DAY, I CAN AND I WILL.

My name is Gabrielle, and no, I have not always been the type to read daily inspirational quotes and talk to myself in the car. I actually used to be one who felt worry, fear, and disappointment more days than not.

Without going into a lengthy story, I will share that my teenage years to early adulthood were emotionally exhausting. I was blessed with many, many wonderful things in life, but I somehow allowed them to be overshadowed by gloom sometimes. I believe we all have times like this, and that is warranted. But, when there is so much beauty and happiness to appreciate and you can not let yourself look past the fog, you miss out on more than you know.

I still do not know what, when, or how this changed- but I am beyond thankful it did. Nothing epic happened. I didn’t go through a life-altering event. I just began deciding, I am blessed, I am happy, I am going to make the best of every day.

Because of this, I feel incredible. I really feel as if I am living each day with purpose, as my Creator intended.

This does not need to be a religious thing either. Whatever, or whomever, you feel connected to in this universe has put you here for a reason. I know this because the gift of life is not an accident, and can be taken from us in the blink of an eye. Nothing is guaranteed. Of all the things in this world we can buy more of, Time is not one. When you think of each day like this, you start to realize how you want to spend your time.

When I wake up, I tell myself, “Wow! You’ve been blessed with another day! Make it the best.” Then, I  continually remind myself of how lucky I am throughout the day and am thankful for all things, big and small.

“Thank you for the clean air I am breathing and the healthy lungs I have.”

“I am so grateful for the ability to walk, think, and speak.”

“I feel healthy, which makes me happy, and I will continue to give my body the love it deserves.”

It sounds silly,  but once you begin to point these things out to yourself, you truly take the time to realize just how GOOD life is. How much more GOOD there is than bad. How GOOD it feels to be aware of the giant blessing life itself is.

It goes back to my quote earlier. “Your mind Is a garden. Your thoughts are seeds. You can grow flowers, or you can grow weeds.” For the most part, it really is that simple. Thoughts become feelings and actions. Your mind is so powerful, you don’t even realize it is responsible for so much of how you feel.

We already know the brain itself is a mysterious, super-machine. Just think of all that it does for us, with or without us knowing. It controls so many of our body’s everyday functions which keep us alive. It reminds our lungs to breathe, our blood to flow, and helps us listen, understand, and process everything we see, feel, hear, smell, taste and touch. Our brains hold memories, feelings, and guide our decisions. These are just barely scraping the surface of all the wonders our brains can do!

If our brains can do that, what makes us believe that our thoughts are not just as powerful?

Your mind will set the tone for the rest of your life. How do you want to feel?

I challenge everyone to begin their day with an affirmation. Tell yourself what it is that you feel happy about. Remind yourself of the great things you are capable of. Wait, and see, how your mindset changes and every day feels like the true blessing that it is! Once you have mastered this within yourself, you will be able to share this positivity with all those around you. Vibes are contagious, make yours one worth catching! 😉
