A Conversation with Yashu

By Yashu Kapila, CEO of BugRaptors

Who is your role model? Why?

I have always believed that you can find your role model in anybody. In my career field, it could be a true veteran of the corporate world or a rookie just on the verge of beginning their career. We can always learn something from someone else—morals or teachings that help us progress in different areas of our lives. For example, when I ponder the many extraordinary women working in the corporate sector, I often think of Indra Nooyi, former chairperson and CEO of PepsiCo. At the same time, I can envision happy and enthusiastic employees at my own company, whose energy inspires me to push myself toward greater achievements.

What are you most proud of in your life?

I celebrate each day that I am alive, and I believe it is necessary to seek contentment and positivity in all areas of life when you strive to achieve big things. However, what makes me feel the proudest is the zeal inside me that drives me to pursue and accomplish anything. It is a feeling of self-satisfaction and self-sufficiency, which not only makes me feel proud but also keeps me humble enough to continue pushing myself further.

Two other things make me feel proud: my family and my company, BugRaptors. I feel humbled and grateful for being blessed with a family that has always stood by me and helped motivate me to achieve all my aspirations. Since I come from a Quality Assurance (QA) background, having worked in different areas of the field, my ability to establish my own QA company was a truly uplifting achievement for me.

What are you passionate about?

Quality assurance is my passion. I love understanding the perspective of the users and fostering test execution that can lead to extraordinary outputs. I think QA is the essence of digital transformation, especially as the tech world is evolving so quickly with the introduction of new software and applications. Whether it be individual users or an entire organization, people need access to technology that is designed to meet their goals.

What makes you feel confident?

Being myself is what makes me feel confident. I always try to empower myself with knowledge in order to boost my self-esteem. I make sure to never doubt myself while continually striving to improve my abilities and skills.

Apart from this, I always aim to connect with people to create a positive exchange of thoughts. Whether at work or in general life, I feel uplifted when I am surrounded by other people who are confident and positive.

What is your favorite inspirational quote?

I love reading and discovering new quotes. However, if you asked me to share the most recent quote that inspired me, it would be this one by Naeem Callaway:

Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tip toe if you must, but take the step.
— Naeem Callaway

This quote illustrates a life philosophy that allows me to keep moving forward no matter what happens. I have witnessed how my little journey in the QA industry turned out to be a grand and successful voyage. Although I am still progressing and always trying to become a better version of myself, I believe anyone who has a dream must walk in that direction. Sometimes, your circumstances may be unfavorable or your path may bring obstacles, but in order to succeed, you must always maintain the passion that ignited your dream in the first place.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

If I had to give advice to my younger self, it would be to make plans and write them down in pencil. Most young entrepreneurs and career enthusiasts are very passionate during the initial years. It’s good to dream big, but you also need to define the smaller, more practical milestones that will get you to your destination. It’s also necessary, when planning your goals, to allow space for unexpected diversions.
