A Year in Review

By Empowered & Poised

It’s that time of year again- time to celebrate another amazing year of empowering and educating girls on social, mental, and physical well-being.

As always, we are super grateful for everyone who has contributed to Empowered & Poised in any way big or small. We are thankful for our partners, interns, volunteers, followers, and everyone else who has contributed to the success of this organization.

Here are just a few of the many highlights and memorable moments we made this past year...

We had the opportunity to run two amazing 15 week lunch bunch groups at Greenview Upper Elementary again this year! We are always so impressed with the ladies we have the pleasure of mentoring. Here’s what a couple participants shared with us about their experience:

I learned to treat others the way I want to be treated and to stay healthy and fit and be careful on the internet.
— Participant 1
I liked that I got along with different people and that we get to be very creative and be ourselves around people.
— Participant 2

We got to join a very special someone at her birthday party and look how much fun we had! Yup, that’s right we can help you host empowerment birthday parties too. :)

We conducted our very first all male workshop at Kenneth Clement Boys’ Leadership Academy and were stoked to have Ivan Conrad join us!

Yes, we love to support our young men out there too. ;) Thank you to the Young Entrepreneur Institute and Burton D. Morgan Foundation for making this possible through your mini-grant offerings.

Our founder, Leah Berdysz, had the opportunity to speak on a panel at the 2019 Enspire Conference about her experience as an entrepreneur. Here’s a recap of what she had to say about it:

I truly enjoyed the opportunity to share my knowledge about entrepreneurship with so many fabulous educators. It’s so important for us to invest in our young people, as they are the future. To all the educators out there: Keep learning. Keep teaching. Keep inspiring.
— Leah Berdysz

Empowered & Poised hosted an inspiring caregiver and daughter #GirlPower event in partnership with the wonderful Circle of Renewal, as well as a caregiver and daughter self-defense workshop with Krav-Maga Cleveland

Some of the fabulous interns we had last summer had a desire to learn more about event planning. So, guess what they did? They developed and executed a real life event in partnership with John Carroll University’s Muldoon Center that allowed young women to explore their creativity. GO TEAM!

Our hearts are truly filled with an abundance of love. While this year of Empowered & Poised did not end as planned due to the devastating impacts of COVID-19, we are still tremendously grateful for all the fun we had and all the connections we created. We also look forward to another year educating, empowering, and supporting a variety of students.

As always, if there is anything we can do to support you do not hesitate to reach out to us! We are here to help in any way possible, because we truly care about you and your family.
